Staffing Changes
We are sad to report that as of February 2 Chery Connolly will no longer be with us in a regular staff position. She will continue as a substitute when needed and will be missed greatly. We are very happy to announce that Monica McCorkle will be replacing her in the afternoon on Thursdays and Fridays. Monday through Thursday Mrs. Bailey will now be in the afternoon class as well as the morning class. If you have any questions please feel free to ask any of the teachers.
Class List
We have had some changes to the class list. Attached you will find a revised class list.
Units
Our current unit of study is our general geography unit. We will then be focusing on the continent of Asia.
Public School Montessori
The public school Montessori program (housed at our neighborhood’s own Jackson Park) will be holding two parent information nights in February. These nights are mandatory for enrollment in the program. They will begin at 6:30 in the Jackson Park Library on February 3 and again on February 18. You only need to attend one night. If you have any questions about the program or the information nights feel free to talk to Mrs. Bailey or Mrs. Welzbacker.
Lunch Bunch
Due to the fact that we have a full Extended Day Kindergarten program the available spaces in Lunch Bunch are in high demand. We are sorry that we are unable to honor last minute requests for space but most days are filled the first or second day that reservations are accepted. Please remember that reservations open on the last Monday of the month for the next month’s days.
Valentines Day
We will be celebrating Valentines Day on February 12 this year. We ask that all the students bring Valentines for all the students in their class. These can be simple and do not need to include any candy or gifts. We ask that you have your child write their own name only on the Valentines. If they need help they can trace their names after you have written it with a highlighter. We ask that the tasksheeters write the names of their classmates as well as their own names (the EDKs will need valentines for both classes). This can be a tedious chore if done in one sitting so we suggest starting early and breaking up the job by only doing a few a day.
Valentines Day Party
If you would like to sign up to bring something to the Valentines Day party please speak to a teacher to sign up.
